Cost planner
AI tool cost planner
This planner multiplies the numbers you type in. It does not know any vendor's price, and it does not convert currencies. Use it to compare monthly with annual billing, count seats and check whether a metered plan covers your usage. The vendor's checkout is the final authority on what you pay.
Seat cost: monthly or annual billing
Illustrative until you enter a real price. A currency symbol is just a label here.
Usage check: does a metered plan cover you?
Use the unit the vendor charges: tasks, credits or executions. Credits are not comparable between tools, and this check does not turn them into money unless you enter an overage rate.
What the numbers hide
- Per-user versus workspace. Some plans charge every active user, others a flat price. Compare per-user cost only with per-user plans. See seat costs and annual commitments.
- Monthly versus annual. Annual billing is usually paid up front and may be non-refundable. A lower monthly figure is not the amount you pay at checkout.
- Credits, tasks and runs. Each vendor defines its own unit. Read how automation tools bill their usage and why AI tools use credits so quickly.
- Free plan, free trial, signup credits. Different offers, different endings. See free plan, trial or credits.
- Overage and top-ups. Check what happens at the limit, and switch off automatic top-ups until you trust usage. See avoid unexpected charges.
- Connected apps. An automation may need subscriptions to the apps it connects. We do not add those.
- Cost per workflow. Divide the yearly cost by how many times you will do the job. If you will not do it often, a pay-as-you-go option may fit better.
- When upgrading makes sense. When a limit stops a job you need, and the next plan's price is less than the cost of doing it another way. Test first: test an AI tool before buying annually.
A worked example (illustrative)
Suppose a plan costs 20 per seat per month billed monthly, or 16 per seat per month billed annually, and you need 3 seats with a 2-seat minimum. Billed seats: 3. Monthly billing: 20 × 3 × 12 = 720 a year. Annual billing: 16 × 3 × 12 = 576 paid up front. The annual saving is 144, or 20%. If one person leaves in month three, annual billing may still charge the full year. These numbers are invented to show the method.
Taxes, currency conversion and connected-app costs are not included unless you enter them. Currency symbols are labels only.
